I like the specific design for this particular bike and bar. The 850 fits fine. I suggest the length can be shortened approximately .100 inch to tuck the base of the Garmin unit right up to the leading edge of the bar. The new case design has 45º corners on the bottom so it would rotate into locked position when installing, and the buttons are on those 45º corners so one may still operate them when installed. Now I am splitting hairs, but the design can be optimized further, altering the height along with the length, to blend the Garmin unit into the bar to the point it becomes the leading edge of the bar. Also, if you may like to broaden the applications, you could slot the two mounting holes, while adding some length to the stem, which would allow optimization of the smaller mountain Garmin unit, Or, you could tool up specific molds for any combination you like. Depends on how much you want to invest, but razor-sharp specific mounts will have a market with those cyclists looking for these minimal gains. If you are going for a specific bike/computer mount, why not go all the way~!?
